Overview

Having a ClubSafe Program at your club means you and your staff will be trained and ready to respond to a medical emergency or incident. Your club will have completed a 30-point process that begins with an objective evaluation of your preparedness.  The result will be a fully integrated emergency response plan understood by staff and respected by the membership.  But it does not end there.  ClubSafe continues to work with your club each season to evaluate, update, train staff and reinforce your emergency response plan.

Clubs with ClubSafe Programs are committed to the safety of their members and staff, have uniform procedures in place, and are prepared to manage an emergency involving a member, guest or employee at any location at any time at the club.

The ClubSafe Process

1. Evaluate / Compare / Report / Recommend
2. Design Emergency Response Plan
3. Train Staff
4. Install Medical and Communications Equipment
5. Test Plan
6. Launch
7. Announce to Members

Evaluate / Compare / Report / Recommend

Before any ClubSafe Program is implemented, a complete evaluation of the club’s layout, facilities, activity centers, medical equipment, defibrillators, communications systems and staffing resources are made.  ClubSafe’s ever expanding database of safety programs at client clubs allows for a comparative analysis and is utilized throughout the evaluation process.  A report with recommendations is then presented to club management as a basis for designing the emergency response plan, building consensus among club decision makers and prioritizing safety needs and budget.

Design Emergency Response Plan

An Emergency Response Plan designed by ClubSafe will be the basis for how the club responds to a medical emergency, the most common type of emergency a club will experience, and becomes the foundation for staff reaction and response to any urgent incident.  Current or future emergency plans for accidents, fire, building evacuation, explosions, disasters, etc., will then be incorporated into one uniform Emergency Response Plan.

ClubSafe works closely with club management and staff to design a written plan that is agreed to and understood by all.  Based on information gathered during our evaluation phase, a plan is designed to meet the specific characteristics and safety needs of the club.  The result is an agreed to plan that integrates staff procedures, defibrillator deployment, emergency communications, staff training, and membership awareness into a uniform program that is monitored and tested for effectiveness.

ClubSafe then presents management with a final plan, suggested implementation schedule and documentation.  Before launching, ClubSafe tests the plan with staff to ensure critical components are in place and working.

Program Implementation

ClubSafe does not mail emergency response plans, ClubSafe provides direct on-site assistance during implementation to ensure staff and equipment are properly prepared for an incident. We continue working with management and staff during the final steps of implementation to deliver an effective safety program that is understood by all.

Steps to Implementation

Train Staff

ClubSafe conducts core training programs that certify staff in CPR-AED-First Aid.  In addition, department managers and other key staff at the club are oriented to staff procedures and guidelines included in the emergency response plan.  This preparation includes use of any new medical or communications equipment.

Install Equipment

Any new or updated communications, medical equipment and supplies are installed, tested and staff are instructed on proper use.  Location and maintenance procedures of communications and medical equipment are integrated into the emergency response plan.

Test Response Plan

ClubSafe conducts exercises using real-life scenarios involving staff in their actual roles during an emergency.  Mock drills improve your staff’s understanding of response procedures and builds confidence in their ability to manage an incident.

Announce to Membership

ClubSafe provides sample member announcements alerting each to the club’s upgraded safety plan including what to do “In the Event of an Emergency” regardless of location at the club.  Announcements can also recognize the training and preparation management and staff have undertaken to make the club a safer place for all.

Annual Program

Prior to each season, ClubSafe returns to conduct annual refresher training and mock drills for staff.  A five-point annual review of the club’s safety program is performed with a report and recommendations submitted to management.

Five-Point Annual Review
1. Medical Equipment
2. Communications System
3. Staff Training
4. Staff Procedures
5. Club Changes

ClubSafe meets each year with management and the club’s safety committee to review recommendations and needed upgrades.

"It made sense for us to handle our safety planning the right way. If we were going to take the responsibility to do it, we wanted to do it properly. I didn't have the time to spend. We were also concerned about the liability for not doing it right the first time."

Patricia Schiestl, GM, Fishers Island Club, Fishers Island, NY

We live, in fact, in a world starved for solitude, silence, and privacy: and therefore starved for meditation and true friendship.
